1. Introduction
Welcome to Revel ("we," "our," "us," or the "Platform"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Revel platform available at letsrevel.io, including all associated services, features, and content.
Service Provider:
Biagio Distefano
Graumanngasse 10/4, 1150 Vienna, Austria
Email: [email protected]
By accessing or using Revel, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use Revel. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
2.2 Age-Restricted Events
Some events may have additional age restrictions set by event organizers. Revel does not provide age verification services. It is the organizer's responsibility to verify attendee eligibility and enforce age restrictions for their events. Users are responsible for providing truthful information and complying with event-specific requirements.
2.3 Capacity to Contract
By using Revel, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms under applicable law.
3. Account Registration and Security

3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:

4. Description of Services
4.1 Platform Overview
Revel is an open-source, community-focused event management platform that enables users to:
- Create and manage organizations and communities
- Organize single events and recurring event series
- Sell tickets and manage RSVPs
- Screen attendees through customizable questionnaires
- Coordinate community activities (e.g., potlucks)
- Discover and participate in events
4.2 Intermediary Role
Important: Revel acts solely as an intermediary platform connecting event organizers with attendees. We provide the technical infrastructure for event management, ticketing, and payment processing, but we are not:
- The seller of tickets or events
- The organizer of events
- A party to contracts between organizers and attendees
Event organizers are the sellers and are fully responsible for their events, including legal compliance, safety, refunds, and fulfillment.
4.3 Payment Processing
Payment processing is handled through Stripe. When you purchase tickets:
- The transaction is between you and the event organizer
- Stripe processes the payment on behalf of the organizer
- Revel facilitates the transaction but does not hold or control funds
5. User Roles and Responsibilities
5.1 General Users
All users must:
- Provide accurate information
- Comply with these Terms and applicable laws
- Respect the rights and privacy of other users
- Not use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
5.2 Event Organizers
Event organizers have additional responsibilities:
- Content Moderation: Organizers must actively moderate their own events, organizations, and user-generated content
- Legal Compliance: Ensure events comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws
- Accurate Information: Provide truthful, complete, and accurate event details
- Ticket Fulfillment: Honor all ticket sales and commitments to attendees
- Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of event attendees
- Age Verification: If hosting age-restricted events, implement appropriate verification measures
- Refund Processing: Handle refund requests in accordance with your stated refund policy
- Tax Compliance: Comply with all applicable tax obligations for ticket sales
5.3 Attendees
Event attendees must:
- Provide accurate information when registering for events
- Comply with event-specific rules and requirements
- Respect organizer decisions regarding admission and participation
- Not resell tickets without organizer permission
6. Pricing and Payment Terms
6.1 Hosted Service Fees
For events using Revel's hosted payment processing:
- Free Events: No charge
- Events with Self-Managed Payments: No charge
- Paid Tickets via Revel/Stripe: 1.5% + €0.25 per transaction, plus VAT where applicable, not including Stripe fees
These fees may be negotiated individually for high-volume organizers. Contact us at [email protected] for custom pricing.
6.2 Payment Processing
- All payments are processed through Stripe
- Organizers must connect a valid Stripe account to receive payments
- Stripe's terms of service apply to all transactions
- Transaction fees charged by Stripe are separate from Revel's service fees
6.3 Refunds
- Refund Policy: Each event organizer sets their own refund policy
- Processing Refunds: Organizers are responsible for processing refunds through Stripe
- Revel Service Fees: Revel service fees are non-refundable
- Disputes: Payment disputes should be directed to the event organizer or Stripe
6.4 Currency
All prices are listed in the currency specified by the event organizer. Currency conversion fees may apply based on your payment method.
7. Referral Program
7.1 Eligibility and Enrollment
Revel offers a referral program that allows eligible users ("Referrers") to earn a share of platform fees generated by organizations they refer to the Platform. Participation is by invitation only — Revel assigns referral codes at its discretion. Each user may hold at most one referral code.
7.2 How It Works
When a new user registers on Revel using a Referrer's code and subsequently creates an organization that generates paid ticket sales through the Platform, the Referrer earns 15% of the net platform fees (excluding VAT) collected from that organization's ticket sales. This share applies to all paid ticket transactions processed through Revel/Stripe for the lifetime of the referral relationship, unless modified or terminated in accordance with these Terms.
For clarity:
- The revenue share is calculated on Revel's net platform fees only, not on ticket sale revenue or Stripe processing fees.
- The referral attribution is permanent — there is no expiration window once a referral is established.
- Deactivating a referral code prevents new sign-ups but does not affect earnings from existing referrals.
7.3 Referral Attribution
Referral attribution uses a last-touch model: if a user encounters multiple referral codes before registering, the most recent code (stored in a browser cookie for 30 days) determines which Referrer receives credit. Each new referral link click overwrites any previously stored code.
If a user manually enters a referral code during registration, that explicit entry always takes precedence over any cookie-stored code, regardless of timing.
Once a referral is established at registration, it is permanent and cannot be reassigned.
7.4 Independence Requirement
Referrers must be independent from the organizations they refer. Specifically, a Referrer may not be:
- An owner, representative, or authorized agent of the referred organization
- An employee, contractor, or consultant of the referred organization
- A person with decision-making authority within the referred organization
Passive membership in a referred organization (e.g., as a regular member or attendee without administrative or decision-making power) is permitted. If a Referrer's relationship with a referred organization changes such that they gain decision-making authority, the referral for that organization is immediately revoked and no further earnings will accrue from it.
7.5 Payouts
- Payouts are calculated monthly based on the prior month's platform fee revenue.
- Minimum payout threshold: Payouts below €5.00 are carried forward to the next period until the accumulated amount meets the threshold.
- Payouts are disbursed in EUR via Stripe Connect. Referrers must complete Stripe Connect onboarding to receive payouts. Unclaimed payouts (where the Referrer has not completed Stripe onboarding) are not held indefinitely and may be forfeited after 12 months of inactivity.
- No minimum earnings are guaranteed. If referred organizations cease operations, stop selling tickets, or generate no platform fees, the Referrer earns nothing for that period.
7.6 Self-Billing Agreement
Before payouts can be processed, Referrers must agree to self-billing (Gutschrift). By agreeing, the Referrer consents to Revel issuing invoices on the Referrer's behalf for each payout. Referrers who are registered businesses with a validated EU VAT ID will receive self-billing invoices (Gutschriften) with applicable VAT treatment. Individual Referrers without a VAT ID will receive payout statements.
7.7 Tax Responsibility
Referrers are solely responsible for declaring and paying any taxes owed on referral income in their jurisdiction. Revel does not withhold taxes, and the referral relationship does not constitute employment, agency, or partnership.
7.8 Prohibited Conduct
Referrers may not:
- Create fake organizations or user accounts to inflate referral earnings
- Refer themselves or organizations they control (self-referral)
- Use spam, misleading advertising, or deceptive marketing to promote their referral code
- Impersonate Revel or suggest official endorsement or partnership
- Manipulate ticket sales, pricing, or platform fees to artificially inflate earnings
Violation of these rules may result in immediate termination of the referral relationship, forfeiture of unpaid earnings, and account suspension.
7.9 Program Modifications and Termination
Revel reserves the right to:
- Modify the revenue share percentage, payout terms, or program rules with 30 days' notice to active Referrers
- Discontinue the referral program entirely with 30 days' notice
- Terminate an individual Referrer's participation immediately for cause (e.g., fraud, Terms violation, independence requirement breach)
Earned payouts that have already been calculated at the time of program modification or termination will still be honored, subject to the minimum payout threshold and all other requirements being met.
